When an employee leaves

HRMS → People → Employees: Terminate for a leaving that has happened, Plan separation for one still to come, and Change status for leave and suspension.

A retirement is known months ahead. Terminating the person the day HR hears about it would close their access that afternoon; forgetting to on the day would leave it open. Plan separation records it now and applies it on the date.
