Derivation Studio
Write the rules that derive fund, grant, program and function — conditions in AND/OR groups or an expression, actions that set a value, copy a field, look one up or compute it — and test them against a line before they touch a posting.

Funds
Each fund is a self-balancing set of accounts with its own restrictions. The type decides the category: governmental, proprietary or fiduciary.

Grants
Every award: who gave it, its Assistance Listing number, its period of performance and the fund it belongs to. A cost outside the period, or in another fund, is refused at posting.

Programs & Functions
What the money was for (a program) and the statement of activities column it reports under (a function).

Derivation Rule Sets
One set per thing derived, run in sequence so a later set can read what an earlier one decided. First match stops at the first rule that fires; all applicable lets each refine the last.

Derivation Rules
Every rule as a record. The Derivation Studio draws the condition as a builder; here it is the JSON it is saved as.

Derivation Lookup Tables
One, two or three key fields to a value: a hundred cost centers to their funds is one table, not a hundred rules.

Derivation Lookup Rows
A key, or two or three, and the value it gives. * matches anything; the most specific row wins.

Budget Transfers
Money moved between budget lines or funds during the year, or the adopted amount amended — each one numbered, approved by a second person, and audited. On approval the lines’ planned and available amounts change.

Grant Claims
A reimbursement claim to the grantor for what the grant has spent to the end of the period, less what was claimed before. Approved by a second person, it raises the grantor’s invoice in the grant’s fund, ready to post.
